How Accessible Health supports health professionals
Empowering Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to make informed decisions about their health.
Advice on Deaf Awareness and how best to support Deaf patients and those with hearing loss.

We can support you to make small changes that will ensure your D/deaf patients are able to access all of your services including advise on how to communicate, what your requirements are under the law and how other organisations can help you.
As part of our comprehensive support we offer health professionals we:
Advise on how to book communication support via WITS (Wales Interpreting and Translation Service)
Being asked to book an interpreter can be daunting if you have not done it before. We can run through the process with you and show you how easy it is.
Check that WITS have booked communication support
Not sure if an interpreter has been booked, we can contact WITS to check for you and the patient.
We can also support you when things don’t go to plan too.
Support you to contact patients to rearrange appointment when necessary
Do you need to cancel an appointment, ask a patient to change their medication or ask them to come in for a follow up appointment urgently, we can support you to do this too. We can contact your patients on your behalf and liaise between you.
