What is Sensory Loss?

A general term for the partial or total loss of one or more of the senses, including sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and spatial awareness

What is BSL?

British Sign Language (BSL) is the preferred language of over 87,000 Deaf people in the UK and is a visual-gestural language with a distinctive grammar using handshapes, facial expressions, gestures and body language to convey meaning.

It is estimated that there are 25,000 people who use BSL as their main language in the UK.

How does the online training work?

The units enable the participants to study at their own pace, or repeat them, and the questions at the end of each unit ensure understanding. What is unique about the course is that it can be taken in Welsh, English or BSL and it has audio provision which means that most people with sensory impairments can now take part in this training. The course has a quality mark which means it qualifies students for CPD points.

1-hour online sensory loss awareness session, 3-hour Deaf Awareness and communication tactics, 10-week accredited BSL course.
